Trakt is the universal "what have I watched" service. Most streaming apps support it natively — Plex, Netflix (via plugins), Infuse, etc. — but IPTV apps almost never do. OneTV Connect ships with first-class Trakt support: every movie, episode and IPTV VOD you watch is automatically scrobbled, your Trakt watchlist appears as a rail on the home, and the next-episode-to-resume is computed across IPTV + Plex + downloads. Here's how to set it up in 30 seconds and the tips that make it actually useful.
Why scrobble IPTV with Trakt?
Without scrobbling, you have no unified history across the apps you use. Each app remembers what you watched in that app; switching to another app, or to a different TV, means starting over. Trakt is the source of truth — when you scrobble Plex + IPTV + downloads to the same Trakt account, the "watched" state of an episode follows you everywhere, and recommendations actually start working.
Connect your Trakt account
From Settings → Integrations → Trakt, tap Connect. The app shows a 6-character code; visit trakt.tv/activate on any device, paste the code, authorize. The app stores the OAuth token in iCloud Keychain so you don't have to redo this on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV separately.
Auto-scrobbling movies, episodes and IPTV VOD
Once connected, the app sends three events to Trakt for every play: start (when playback begins), pause (when you pause for more than 5 seconds), and stop (with a watch percentage). Trakt marks the title as "watched" if the percentage exceeds 80 % — same threshold as their official apps. This works for IPTV VOD, downloaded movies and episodes, and Plex content. It does not scrobble live IPTV channels (Trakt has no concept of "watching channel X right now") — but you can manually mark a TV episode as watched from the channel detail.
Two-way watchlist sync
Adding a movie or show to your Trakt watchlist on any other device makes it appear in OneTV Connect's Watchlist rail within a minute (Trakt push notifications when available, polled every 5 min otherwise). Conversely, the heart icon on any movie/episode in the app toggles Trakt watchlist state. This means you can browse trending releases on a phone, hit "Add to watchlist", and they're waiting for you when you sit on the couch.
Tips: skip-intro, gaps, mark-as-watched
- Mark all up to here. On a series detail, long-press an episode and pick "Mark all up to here as watched". Useful when you've watched seasons elsewhere and want to start fresh on OneTV Connect with the right resume point. The bulk action is sent to Trakt as a single batch.
- Trakt gaps don't break resume. If your Trakt history has gaps (you forgot to scrobble episode 7), the "next to resume" computation uses MAX of (Trakt last watched) and (local progress) — never the first unwatched from S1. So you don't get sent back to season 1 because of a single missing scrobble.
- Skip-intro and outro counts. When you skip an intro, OneTV Connect still scrobbles the full episode at the right percentage. So skipping doesn't mark an episode as half-watched.
- Disable scrobbling per category. If you don't want kids' content scrobbled to your main account, set up a Trakt sub-account or use Settings → Integrations → Trakt → Categories to exclude.
The setup is 30 seconds. The benefit is a unified watch history across IPTV, Plex and downloads — which is genuinely the kind of thing you don't realize you need until you have it. Free Trakt accounts work; Trakt VIP unlocks unlimited devices but isn't required.
